Online Gambling Bill in US has Brick and Mortar Casinos Standing By


Online gambling has continued to gain more popularity as players recognize all of the convenience it has to offer. Online casinos provide players with the chance to enjoy their favorite casino games without worrying about incurring travel expenses, sleeping arrangements, scheduling conflicts, and other factors. This has led many players to turn away from the brick and mortar casinos and going to the online casinos. The brick and mortars would like to get in on this revenue if possible.


This is why major Las Vegas casinos are standing by and paying close attention to HR 2267, a bill which would lead to the legalization and regulation of online gambling in the United States. This bill had come against some strong opposition at first from those expected to support it. However, amendments have been made which assisted this bill in recently being approved by the House Financial Services Committee and have helped it get back many of its supporters.


Should this bill go all the way through, the brick and mortar casinos would be able to dip into that huge online gambling revenue. Back in 2006, Las Vegas sands already thought about delving into online gambling. Harrah’s Entertainment has already said they would be interested in getting in on the online side of gambling should online gambling become legal in the United States. It’s a safe bet that many other brick and mortar casinos would soon follow suit.


The online gambling industry has a huge growth potential and there is plenty of room for the brick and mortar based casinos to get in on the action. Bringing their already well established brand to the online gambling scene could yield results of amazing proportions.
