The month of July has taken a toll on the gaming industry. In fact, they may just want to consider the entire month of July a wash and try to put it behind them. The daily average stock prices of slot machine manufacturers and casino operators all took a fall during the month of July.


In fact, seven out of the ten companies which are followed by Applied Analysis showed declines in the double-digits.


The largest decline came from Boyd Gaming Corp., their daily average stock prices went down an incredible 22%. There were also three top slot machine manufacturers who suffered hard blows.


Bally Technologies, International Game Technology, and WMS Industries were hit with plummets between 10.5% and 14%.


It has been known that the summer months can take their toll on the gambling industry. However, these are some hard numbers to swallow for many companies and the month of July has proven to be a scorcher.


Casinos have cut down on buying new slot machines and other equipment at this time and this has affected those slot machine companies. However, with Massachusetts lawmakers nearing a gambling opportunity compromise on Friday, things may already be looking up for those slot machine manufacturers.


July is over now and hopefully this will bring an end to the string of bad numbers. With a new month ahead many gaming industry companies are holding their breath and hoping for a change which will turn those numbers up and going the other direction.


Most are looking forward to putting July behind them.
